Ok, so this question comes up a lot. Why is my computer so Loud?

Has your computer ever been so noisy that its hard to concentrate when writing a paper or trying to read an article?

Well there is a few ways to quiet it down and its all actually pretty simple.

90% of the time a computer is loud because of all the dust and other stuff that accumulates on the inside of the computer. This dust will actually become thick, and cause strain on the power supply and fans causing them to whine and make noise.

Computers are designed to take in cool air and get rid of hot air as shown below

As you can see in this example there are two intakes. One on the front. One on the side.

Where is your computer located ? Under your desk? In a closet?

Under a desk is most common which is probably why the inside of your computer can become a dust collector.

To remove the dust you can use two methods, a vacuum or a blower. I Personally try to use a blower i find it easier to to control with a vacuum sometimes the end will suction to a piece which could damage it.

First you want to open of the case (for a desktop) or remove the keyboard (for laptops). Because this information varies so much its easiest to Google”Remove case from (your computer make and model here ” or “Remove Keyboard from (your computer make and model here ”

Just remember when removing your case or keyboard to remove it slowly because there could be wires attached that you don’t want to rip out. Once the case is off you will see something like this

now all you have to do is get your vacuum or blower and gently remove the dust. Pay close attention to the fans and spend a few minutes on them, i have even used a toothpick to get in some of the smaller areas in the fan to loosen up the dust.

After cleaning your computer out take a few minutes to see if you can find a place higher off the ground to put it, it most situations it will change the need to clean it out from once every 3-6 months to once a year.
